They can be incredibly helpful, but like anything that can make a big change, it's important to understand the full picture, including potential side effects. Think of this post as your friendly guide to navigating the GLP-1 journey, and I'll be shouting from the rooftops why working with a registered dietitian (RD) is absolutely crucial.
GLP-1 Medications: The Good, the Maybe-Not-So-Good
GLP-1 medications work by mimicking a natural hormone that helps regulate your blood sugar and appetite. They can be real game-changers, but they also affect other parts of your body, which can sometimes lead to side effects. And here's a key point: sometimes these side effects aren't directly from the medication, but rather from the rapid weight loss that often happens when you take them.
